Galapagos Animals
We saw A LOT of animals in the Galapagos. And we learned a lot about different kinds of animals. There are four main types of animals in the Galapagos: migratory, native, and endemic, and introduced.
Migratory (M): Animals that spend some time in the Galapagos and some time in another place
Native (N): Animals that arrived in the Galapagos by themselves or by some natural force (with a current or with the wind or or a raft of vegetation)
Endemic (E): Animals that have evolved and become a new species that exists ONLY in the Galapagos.
Introduced (I): Animals that were brought to the Galapagos (on purpose or accidentally) by humans.
This is a list of all the animals I saw in the Galapagos. I put M, N, and E next to the ones that I know. Some of them I don’t know which category they belong to.

What a list of animals! Loved the pictures for each category.
ReplyDeleteHey Locke, from a friend of your mom and dad, plus Nana and Rocco: this is the most amazing list of animals and birds and crabs and snakes and whatever else, that I have ever been able to read. I love your categorizing them for us, into the four main groups as they evolved or arrived. I learned a LOT! Gracias! Irene
